Google Declared an Illegal Monopolist by Federal Court
landmark Ruling Finds Google Violated Antitrust Laws
Judge Imposes Section 2 Sherman Act Violations
In a major victory for antitrust regulators, U.S. District Judge Amit P. Mehta ruled on Monday that Google has illegally maintained a monopoly in online search and related advertising markets. The judge's ruling came after a two-week trial in which the Justice Department presented evidence of Google's anti-competitive practices.
"After carefully considering and weighing the witness testimony and evidence, the court reaches the following conclusion: Google is a monopolist and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly," Mehta wrote in his opinion.
This landmark ruling marks a significant turning point in the battle against Big Tech monopolies. For years, Google has faced scrutiny over its dominant market share and allegations of anti-competitive behavior. The court's decision sends a strong message that even the most powerful companies are not immune from antitrust laws.
