Lifeguards Issue Warning After Sighting
Lifeguards at Tybee Island Beach have issued a warning after an alligator was spotted in the ocean on Saturday, July 15.
The alligator was first seen by a beachgoer around 10:30 a.m. near the pier. Lifeguards responded to the scene and confirmed the sighting.
The alligator was described as being about 6 feet long and weighing around 200 pounds. It was last seen swimming away from the beach.
Lifeguards are advising beachgoers to be aware of their surroundings and to report any alligator sightings to lifeguards immediately.
Alligators are not typically found in the ocean, but they can occasionally swim into saltwater from freshwater habitats. It is important to remember that alligators are dangerous animals and should not be approached.
